Old Town Run Club: Honoring Service Through Every Mile

Virtual Service Operations is proud to feature the Old Town Run Club, based out of Alexandria, VA, in this month’s episode of the Eleventh Series: The Mission Continues.

This episode highlights how the club honors those lost on September 11 and the heroes who have served since. What began as a group of runners has become a mission-driven community that is committed to remembrance and support for military members, first responders, and their families.

Members share personal stories of where they were on September 11, 2001, what inspired them to serve, and what it means to run in honor of others. Together they logged nearly 500 miles from Pennsylvania to the Pentagon to New York carrying flags, memories, and a shared sense of purpose.

As runner and veteran James Stanley says, “It is not that I have to do it, or struggle to do it, it is that I have the privilege and honor of doing it.”

The Old Town Run Club shows that remembrance is not passive. It is active, lived, and deeply felt with every step.
