On a Day of Remembrance, Veterans Helping Veterans
Today marks 25 years since September 11, 2001. We remember the lives lost, the first responders who ran toward danger, and the generation who raised their hand to serve because of that day.
It feels right that this episode releases today. In Part 2 of our Hero's Bridge feature on The Eleventh: The Mission Continues, veterans of an earlier generation show what service looks like long after the uniform comes off.
Mick Martin spent 47 days in the VA hospital in 2018 while his family fell behind on the mortgage. Hero's Bridge stepped in, and Mick has been paying it forward ever since. Navy veteran Carolyn Kirkland shares why a 20-bed Marine amputee ward still drives her to serve. Army veteran Phillip Renda explains why he never left after his first meeting. And therapy dog Noah brings comfort where it is needed most.
Different generations. Same commitment: never leave another veteran behind.
